Danny Janes has welcomed experienced defender, Lewis Strafford, to Pershore Town on the eve of the 2024/25 Season.

Lewis, who spent last season training with Halesowen Town and Bromsgrove Sporting, joins Pershore Town after moving from Milton Keynes.

Strafford has a small list of former clubs, but has most recently featured fourteen times for Banbury United, fifteen times for Aylesbury whilst also listing MK Gallacticos and Buckingham United in there.

During the 2023/24 Season, Lewis featured for Potton United before moving from his Milton Keynes home to the Birmingham area where he then joined Halesowen Town for a number of weeks under Paul Smith before moving onto Bromsgrove Sporting to train.

Lewis also spent some time out in Sweden, playing for Ope IF, a club near Ă–stersund that was founded in 1922. Lewis left his home in England to join Ope where he featured for the club as a centre back as was described as "fast, strong and has a good right foot."

"Lewis is a player who I came across whilst coaching and we got speaking." said Janes.

"He has played a high level abroad and has recently moved to this area. The football world is quite small so I spoke with a few contacts who spoke very highly of him.

"Lewis is very accomplished technically, which I expected after the level he has played.

"He now needs to adapt his game to our principles and our way, which should be an easy transition for a player of his ability.

"Lewis has missed quite a few Pre-Season games due to a holiday so he will need to get up to speed quickly because we need players firing from the first game of the season.

"He has settled in really well with the group as he only knew one or two players when he joined. He has leadership qualities that will be very effective for us on the pitch."

Lewis himself is looking forward to contributing to the success the club can have this season whilst hoping to stay fit throughout.

"I'm really happy to be signing for Pershore, it was a no brained after speaking with DJ and TM." said Strafford.

"For a 'Semi-Pro' Club, I don't think you could find a more professional one in the area, the approach to everything and the detail that goes into the planning is massively impressive.

"We're hopefully going to play plenty of games this season, we've obviously set out target out early for the league and I believe we'll be in plenty of cup competitions alongside that.

"On a personal note, I just want to win as many matches as possible whilst staying fit along the way. If I can contribute to that both on and off the pitch, that's enough for me."
