In a really even game of football, Danny Janes' side had taken a 2 - 0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Luke Carsley and Bo Morris, the centre half partnership.
Carsley had given The Plums the lead after good work from Aidan Clark off a Jack Cresswell free kick allowed the defender to back-heel into the corner of the goal from close range.
Fellow defender, Bo Morris, doubled the lead mid-way through the half after James Baldwin had plucked a high ball out the air, Morris then cut inside on the edge of the box and bent his shot into the far corner with the keep unmoved.
Fairford Town rallied second half, ramping up the intensity and it didn't take long into the half before they had their first. A long ball wasn't dealt with initially by The Plums and the Fairford striker drove across the pitch before reversing his strike low into the bottom corner.
Whilst the momentum had taken a swing in Fairford favour, the big turn was Taylor Eades' red card shown for handball on the line after a defensive mix-up presented Jamie Reid's side with another goalscoring opportunity.
Despite going the right way, Jude Franks was unable to prevent the penalty hitting the back of the net and the game was levelled, but The Plums had a big task of getting something from the game with just ten men.
That 'something' was nearly all three points in the dying moments! Aidan Clark did unbelievably well to drive from just inside the Fairford half, fending off the first defender before chopping back inside another recovering defender into the Fairford box, his shot however was saved low down by the keeper with his trailing leg - a huge let off for the visitors who will have undoubtedly feared the worst.
Those feelings were soon to change to jubilation for Fairford and their management team, just minutes later the front man cut inside onto his right foot and bent a sublime shot into the far top corner to secure all three points and his hat-trick.
"A really disappointing result and a cruel way to lose a game of football." said Janes.
"To be leading 2 - 0 and to then lose a game 3 - 2 is frustrating.
"First half I felt we were good value, we weren't at our best but we created a lot of chances and potentially should have scored more. We limited their chances and controlled their attacks.
"We knew second half they would come for us and they did, they played with a real intensity.
"We just never got going, we wanted to score a third to secure the game but we never created anything clear cut. I felt we lacked enough players who could lead and deal with the momentum changing.
"Their first goal comes so early that it gives them a platform, it was a great finish. Then we conceded the penalty and the red card after 60 minutes.
"The effort from the players from that point was unbelievable, we should have won it with the chance at the end, we didn't take it in then Jamal scores the winner with a fantastic finish.
"The result sets us back, but we go again and stick together which has been the theme for most of the season."
