Janes Has No Complaints With Result

Club Admin4 Aug 2024 - 17:12

Pershore Town bowed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle yesterday in a 2 - 0 defeat to Kidsgrove Athletic.

The Plums fell behind early in the first half before the hosts doubled their league halfway through the first period to make a tough task and near on impossible one.

Kidsgrove Athletic, of Step Four, never looked in any real threat during the Extra Preliminary Round of the 2024/25 Emirates FA Cup tie.

Hussain, Parker and Beach all had chances in the game for Pershore but Kidsgrove were clinical in both boxes and will look ahead to the next round.

Janes felt his side improved second half but gave themselves and uphill task if gifting the hosts two goals whilst not being good enough at the opposite end of the pitch.

"I can't argue with the result based on chances created throughout the game." said Janes.

"We gifted them two goals and gave ourselves a huge task in what was already a very difficult challenge.

"Second half I thought we controlled the game with our possession and played well, the players responded at half-time which was pleasing, but they need to start games in that manner.

"Naturally towards the end of the game Kidsgrove dropped off to protect their lead, we never looked like scoring and I was disappointed with the performance in the final third.

"We now head into a really important week with two league fixtures. The players need to be ready to go and to maximise every minute of the two games."
