Following he postponement of Saturday's Hellenic League Division One fixture against Abingdon United, Danny Janes' sides' attention quickly turned to Tuesday evening's trip to Cribbs FC for a Semi Final tie in the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup.
Cribbs, the current holders of the Challenge Cup having beaten Hereford Pegasus last season at Bishops Cleeve, are flying high in the Hellenic League Premier Division and look well set to secure promotion to Step 4.
Having not lost in their last nine games, and conceding just five goals in that process, the challenge that awaits Danny Janes' side is one of epic proportions.
Last time out for Richard Luffman's side, they beat Lydney Town 5 - 0 in a comfortable evening under the lights on their home surface.
There's goals a plenty within the ranks at Cribbs FC, with twenty different goal-scorers this season. David Duru sits top of the pile with thirteen whilst Aysa Corrick's goals per game proves a better statistic, the former Corsham Town man has twelve to his name.
A fourth placed finish in the Hellenic League Premier Division last season has been built on and Cribbs look set to win the league this season, many will feel Tuesday's fixture should be a given - but we all know what The Plums are like in big games.
For Danny Janes' side, there was a tough 2 - 0 win over Shortwood United on Thursday evening to keep Pershore Town top of Hellenic League Division One, watched on by the Cribbs' manager at the AIM Community Stadium.
Just one defeat in eleven games for Pershore Town, that being the Floodlit Cup Final against Mangotsfield United. The Plums are in good form in terms of results but more often than not, Janes' comments have suggested he wants to see more from his players.
The first goal in Thursday evening's win saw Pershore Town tick over to 100 league goals for the 2022/23 season in just twenty nine games, finishing the night with 101 goals.
"The game will be our toughest test so far this season against the team who are top of the table in the Hellenic Premier Division." said Janes.
"Cribbs are having a great season and Rich is doing a great job there. They are a winning machine that just keeps producing results.
We have watched them twice this season and we have been really impressed with their structure and the buy-in from every player tactically.
"They will be favourites to win the game and rightly so, but we are going there to win and will do everything we can to try and achieve that objective.
"Credit must go to both clubs as we are both fighting for our respective leagues but also value the Cup Competitions, not many cubs can compete at the intensity ourselves and Cribbs have done this season.
"Everything we try and implement on the night will need to be executed with detail and quality.
"We will need to suffer well as a team when under pressure and come through those moments.
"The team performance will need to be up there with as one our best of the season, combined with individual players all performing at their ability levels. If we do that, then we have a chance."
