The Plums will begin the 2024/25 Hellenic League season with a trip to Thornhill Park tomorrow evening.

It's a tough one to start for Danny Janes' side who will open their Hellenic League Premier Division season with a game away at Slimbridge AFC.

With plenty of changes in personal to both playing squads from last season, it'll remain a game that could very simply go either way.

One familiar face within the Slimbridge AFC ranks is that of Callum Dark, a recent signing from Lydney Town. Callum featured a number of times for The Plums under Neil Parton with a couple of appearances under Janes' stewardship first time around.

In retaining Jack Smith, the Severn Sport Breakthrough Player of the Season 2023/24, Slimbridge AFC have an attacking focus with a tenacious attitude.

Out wide will be the pace of Shiyak Sutherland and at the back will be a young defender in Haydn Evans who plays beyond his years.

Slimbridge AFC come into tomorrow's game having dispatched of Shortwood United in their final pre-season friendly.

For Pershore, they'll he new faces a plenty in the sixteen man squad that travel to Slimbridge whilst The Plums will also have to cope with a few players on holiday.

In Harlie Price, Dylan Parker and Aidan Clark there are forwards who have all played higher in Non-League but will be hopeful of finishing this season top goalscorer.

Nathan Benson in midfield is a recent signing from Sporting Club Inkberrow as he makes his way through the leagues at a young age.

The Plums will be without manager Danny Janes tomorrow due to commitments made before his return to the Football Club.

"It's as tougher game as we could've asked for really in terms of opening our season." said Assistant, Tom Milward.

"I'm sure they'll be disappointed to have not made the play-offs last season and they'll be looking to put that right this time around.

"For us, we've a bit of a 'new look' feel about us, but that's no excuse going into this one and we'll do what we can to pick up three points and get the ball rolling.

"They'll be expected to win, we're going to their patch midweek, we'll need to be at our very best to hurt them."
