Plums Make It Four On The Spin

Plums Make It Four On The Spin

Club Admin1 Apr - 09:28

Danny Janes' side made it four wins in a row on Saturday, coming from behind to beat Highworth Town 2 - 1.

The Plums travelled to Wiltshire on Saturday for the penultimate Hellenic League fixture of the 2024/25 Campaign.

Janes' side were to take on Highworth Town, who had already confirmed their spot in the Hellenic League Play-Offs.

The Worthians had always proved a tough task for Pershore Town, with The Plums having never previously beaten the hosts.

It was the hosts that took the lead on Saturday, Pershore guilty of giving the ball away cheaply in midfield with Highworth's attack then able to strike from distance to beat Joe Stockton.

The Plums weren't to be put off however and Harlie Price levelled the score at 1 - 1 for half time. A half of football that could've seen any scoreline in truth with both sides missing some big chances.

The second half was much like the first, both sides having good chances but Pershore perhaps a little on top playing 'down the hill'.

In the final moments, Cam Monteith gave Pershore the lead converting after brilliant work from Bailey Fuller down the right.

It's a first win over Highworth Town for The Plums, setting up Janes' side for their highest finish at Step 5 with one game still to play.

"Another good result against a strong side who have had a great season. " said Janes.

"I thought the players were outstanding in their application, their focus and their quality.

"I was really pleased with how we attacked, building through the thirds on a slow pitch but also playing direct with forward runners.

"We rode our luck at times and Highworth had some big chances, but so did we. The chances we conceded were simply individual errors or poor marking from set pieces, I thought we defended superbly in dealing with how Highworth approached the game.

"We now focus on our last league game of the season next week as we aim to finish with three points."
