Plums Secure Home Victory

Pershore Town backed up last weekend's performance at Mangotsfield United with another solid display at home to Corsham Town.

Danny Janes has challenged his players before Saturday's game to back up last weekend's result away to Mangotsfield United with another solid display at home to a hard-working Corsham Town side.

It took a penalty to separate these two sides back in September in the reverse, but The Plums were clinical in yesterday's performance to run out 3 - 1 winners.

Harlie Price got Danny Janes' side started when James Baldwin's shot across the keeper was parried into the path of Price to slot home his eighteenth goal of the season.

Pershore held a slender 1 - 0 lead heading into the break and focus would certainly be the call of the day in the changing room.

Bailey Fuller doubled the lead with a well worked goal between Sean Cooke, James Baldwin and Harlie Price. It was Price that slotted Fuller through and he dropped his shoulder to shift the ball before firing home at the front post.

The Quarrymen did hit back from a set piece to half the deficit and very nearly levelled the scoreline but for an impressive save from Joe Stockton down to his left.

Reece Day wrapped up the game with a third goal for Pershore of the afternoon, Bailey Fuller racing through before striking towards goal but the ball came back off the upright and Day raced in to fire into an empty net.

Its back-to-back league wins for Danny Janes' side who now turn their attention to a Marsh (Hellenic) Challenge Cup Quarter Final at Ludlow Town on Tuesday evening.

"I'm really pleased that the players backed up their performance at Mangotsfield with another good display, and result." said Janes.

"We spoke before the game that high level players can deliver back to back and beyond that, I felt the intensity in the players' mind-set was there.

"Corsham are a good side and I thought it was a really competitive game. We got the balance right in our play, playing with variation at the right times, the decision making behind that was key.

"When the chances came, we took them. Defensively again I thought we looked solid and dealt with the threats that they had.

"Overall really pleasing, we now have two big games next week that we have to make sure we are to the level for."
