Danny Janes' side, who were always heading into the game as underdogs, found themselves behind early on in the game after failing to handle a Sporting corner, a common theme of the evening.
Pershore Town had beaten Bromsgrove Sporting back in 2021/22 Season as The Plums created history lifting the cup for the first time, there had been hope of a repeat performance but The Rouslers were clinical last night.
With the hosts holding a 2 - 0 lead at half time, Janes would've been hoping to see his side take the game deep before attempting to put pressure on the Sporting goal. Two early goals in the second half soon put pay to that and Bromsgrove ended up running out 8 - 2 winners on the night.
"A really disappointing night and quite an embarrassing one when you get beat by that scoreline." said Janes.
"I don’t think it was an 8-2 game, we have conceded five goals from set pieces. We simply couldn’t handle their aggression and power in the box, saying that, a lot of goals were second phases which I am extremely frustrated with as that is just poor marking.
"We spoke about getting through the first 15 minutes, yet we give two cheap goals away from corners straight away.
"I actually thought we grew into the game the more the half went on.
"We spoke at half-time about staying in the game aslong as we could to then give us a platform to chase the score towards the end, but two quick cheap goals again took the game away from us.
"I can’t fault the spirit of the players, they kept working and trying right until the end. Bromsgrove were the better team, as expected, but we didn’t do ourselves justice with how we gifted them some of their goals.
"You could see the difference in levels throughout the game but I felt we did okay in terms of overall play, we have scored two goals and before the game you would like to think we have a chance if we score two.
"The set pieces have killed us and maybe I should have selected more height and power in the starting line-up to combat that threat, I didn’t think we would struggle the way we did.
"We now have to pick ourselves up and respond. I’ve never lost by that scoreline, it can happen in football, especially when you play a side of that level. The scoreline still isn’t acceptable at any level though.
"We look forward to getting a session in before travelling to Cirencester."
