James Rushton19 Sep 2023 - 11:40

A chance to check out the results throughout Pershore Town Football Club from the past week.

We started off this week on Thursday evening where Mike Bishop’ U18 Floodlit team took on Nuneaton Griff in the league cup. It was a slow start for ‘The Plums’ but they went into the break, 2-1 up. They were a different side in the second half with them winning this cup game 8-1. 5 goals for Joel Masters and 5 assists for Archie Thurston.

We move swiftly onto Saturday, where our youth teams were in action.

Alice Hill’ U7s had a great first league game and a performance that they should be very proud of. The team then went onto take part in a tournament Sunday and showed great team spirit.

Andy Medler’ U8s finished of their pre-season this weekend against Bidford and they really showed the manager, Andy what they are capable of for this upcoming season and the platform has be built for them to really progress this season with lots of chances came their way throughout the game and the management team couldn’t be prouder of this team at the moment.

Tim Brown’ U9s showed a really good performance against their opponents on Saturday morning, a solid midfield performance from the team which is showing the training is paying off with this team. We now move onto Tim’ U10s played their second league fixture of the season Saturday and showed great performances throughout from the team which Tim was very pleased with.

Jenna Lienerth’ U11 Girls had their first home game of the season today against Nunnery Wood. It was a great performance from the girls and the management team could not be prouder of the team with this being there first ever game together and all are looking forward to see what the season holds for this team.

Pete Davis’ U11s played against Shipston Excelsior in a league fixture this week, The boys started off very strongly and played a great game. The last two performances for this team have been promising and plenty to look forward to in future games.

AJ’ U12s played against Kempsey Colts this Saturday morning which they were dominant throughout but unable to convert the chances they had on goal, a goal was scored by Oliver Lawson but ended with a 2-1 defeat for the U12s.

Jon Dean’ U12 Bullets played great for the first 25 minutes and were very much equal to a strong Stourport Swifts side. Unfortunately, Swifts were too strong and really tested the boys resilience and lost the fixture 8-0. Even with the score line, their heads drop and they will dust themselves and get ready for next week’s cup fixture.

Jason Neville’ U13 Bullets played against TDMS on Saturday morning which was a frustrating morning for the Bullets with TDMS running out 3-1 winner of this Ambassador League fixture. They look to keep working as a team in this new league this season.

Richard Morley’ U13s started off the game strongly with a 2-0 lead within the first five minutes at Welford this weekend. They carried on the style which they started the game in and finished the game 13-2 with a special mention to Harry with four goals and Max with three. A promising season ahead for the U13s.

Steve Barker’ U14s were up against Kidderminster Eagles this weekend and it was a great performance from start to finish for the U14’s with great goals throughout. They came away from the fixture with a 7-0 Victory. The players really showed fantastic attitude when they were leading and didn’t let the standards slip.

Wayne Lomax’ U15s played their second league fixture of season on Saturday against West Worcester Lions away from home. They started off the game strong but went 1-0 down, within one minute of the restart ‘The Plums’ equalised with a neat finishing by Rhys Lawrence-Bury. A goal before the break for Ethan Lomax saw the U15’ lead at the break. In the second half it saw goals from Morley Westwood and again from Ethan Lomax to secure the 3 points with a 4-2 win.

Danny Hilditch’ U16s played against Boldmere St Micheals in a MJPL Fixture on Saturday morning, the first half saw lots of opportunities and a missed penalty from the U16s which meant they went into the break 0-0. The second half saw ‘The Plums’ take a 1 nil lead from a great passage of play which lead to Cal Jenkinson finishing past the keeper. Boldmere, then equalised by an own goal which the game then finished 1-1. A Great point from a fixture where we were beaten last season.

Jay Widdett’ U18s had a fixture in the MJPL were they faced Leek Wootton, It was a poor start from the Pershore side which saw Leek Wootton take an early lead. ‘The Plums” gradually built into the game and equalised, then another goal followed shortly after which gave Jay’ team the lead at half time. A number of goals from each team in the second half but Pershore finally winning the game 4-3.

On to Sunday and Stu Townsend’ U15s played against Whaddon United away from home this week where the much-changed squad from last year came away from a very scrappy game in the rain with a well-deserved 1-0 win with a goal from Alex Niesiel.

Jay Morgan’ U16s started their league campaign in the Cheltenham League today with a 4-2 away win against WWYFC. A rusty first game for the boys, but a good result to get the U16’s on their way. A brace each for Henry Hillditch and Alfie Elliott-Smith.
